The main objective of this session is to help you communicate more effectively in the global workplace. By the time the session is over, you should be able to identify differences among people in the global workplace; be respectful and tolerant, and avoid stereotyping; understand requirements for effective communication; recognize how cultural context and other cultural issues affect communication in a global workplace; deal effectively with communication problems; and communicate successfully with everyone. Why “Communicating in a Global Workplace” Matters:
The global workplace is a diverse workplace. There are many differences among the people who work in the global workplace. Some of your coworkers may come from different nations and cultures around the world. For some of them, English may be a second language, and their business customs and ways of communicating may be different from yours. You may have customers from other countries. How effectively you communicate with them can have a impact on future sales of products and services.
